Oh Boy! Another holiday. So do you go out to eat or make a sweetheart dinner including a valentines day dessert? Just ask yourself this"Do I want to make reservations or would I rather have a more memorable meal for my sweetie at home?" Well I know personally I know I can make an easy meal at home including a wonderful batch of valentine cookies(they do freeze) and make it much more fun. When thinking of ideas for your meal, don't forget that you don't have to make a big chateaubriand or Beef Wellington or any gourmet dish. It's for you and your valentine. Something easy and romantic is not that hard or expensive. But you do need ideas. How about some pasta? A little salad on the side and some crusty garlic bread?(Remember if both people eat garlic there's no problem with a kiss.) How about a nice bottle of wine to go with that easy meal? You can also have many different pasta dishes with a variety of veggies mixed in there. The good old stand-by of steak however is never out of place in a good, easy meal. There are so many different cuts of steak that just pick your favorite and if it's not the super-expensive cut and might be not as tender as you would like check out some kind of marinade for it and throw it on a grill or grillpan. But let's face it a sweetheart meal will end with some kind of a special valentines day dessert and you do want something special. With all the different recipes for valentine cookies, valentine day desserts and special sweets, it's almost impossible to choose. Where do you go for the one idea that will take your easy, valentines day meal over the top? Well if you have a special recipe from mom or grandma you can start there. I don't happen to have one of those so I let my fingers do the walking. There is so much to eat and drink at your fingertips it would be hard not to find something(or 2) that you really want to make or try. The main thing is to enjoy the cooking for your sweetheart and make whatever you decide on easy and tasty and topped off with a great valentines day dessert. I really think you will enjoy the experience especially if this is the first valentines day you have spent together. Because if you just go out to dinner it's just a little holiday meal if you make it at home it is a special day with that special someone. So happy Valentines Day and remember to KISS THE COOK!
